We're all winners in God's eyes (Power 30 Under 30 Awards are good too)

We're all winners in God's eyes

Hebrews 11:6(KJV) - But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Check me out posing for photos with James of The Christian Socialites on Fox 5 News using the link below;

Fox 5 News Clip

And the five 2007 Power 30 Under 30 Winners in the Community Activism category are....

Kate Atwood, 28 :: Founder and CEO, Kate's Club
Christopher "Ludacris" Bridges, 29 :: Award-Winning Rapper and Philanthropist
Ryan Gembala, 26 :: Co-founder, H.E.R.O. for Children
Garrett Gravesen, 26 :: Co-founder, H.E.R.O. for Children
Alissa Silverman, 29 :: President, Create Your Dreams

When you were really young, after losing a competition have you ever heard the line, "Everyone's a winner in God's eyes?" I'm sure that's true but God wasn't giving out the awards last night. LOL! Anyway, as you can see from the list above, I didn't win. Nonetheless, I did meet some cool people. James, of The Christian Socialites was at the event showing me support and I'm thankful for that. Here's the complete list of finalists.

During the initial reception we mixed and mingled with the celebrity finalists who graced the occasion with their presence. We then sat on the second row with several of the eventual winners. My heart raced when I saw the caliber of the accomplishments of some of the featured finalists. My goodness, I got fired up to step my game all the way up.

However, unlike four of the five winners in my category (Ludacris is a superstar entertainer) I don't see anything in the near future that could drive me to quit my job as a Structural Engineer and do this full time. I don't know what God has planned but He definitely hasn't shared that with me.

Nonetheless, let me give a shout out to one of my fellow Community Activism nominees, Rochelle Lindsey, Program Manager of Jumpstart Atlanta who came with her friend Kenya, a fashion professional. We spent a considerable period of time talking during the initial reception after a reporter from a national magazine interviewed us and then introduced us. Rochelle recruits college students from my alma mater, Morehouse College to volunteer as tutors and mentors in local high schools. She did not get lots of press last night since she didn't win but I'm putting her name out there. Good job!

Anyway, here's some random information from last night. Eddie "Young Dirty" Long, the son of Bishop Eddie Long of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church won in the category of Arts, Entertainment and Media for his radio show, "The Good Life Radio". It's a very interesting concept where he combines positive secular hip hop and Christian music in an effort to reach the world with a message of hope. I talked to him for a couple seconds and told him how much I liked his work.

All in all, it was a pleasant experience and I appreciate all of your love and support. Now, my focus returns to my book. Marketing will begin in a matter of weeks so I'm very excited. My marketing representative is gathering information and making initial contacts this week so I expect some action very soon. I would like to thank once again, LaTroya Gant, my favorite Christian publicist, for helping us with that process.

Never give up on your dreams. I can't promise you anything but I can encourage you to at least try. If God told you to do something and you do it, He'll reward your obedience. God bless you!

Matthew 6:6(KJV) - But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

Announcements:

1 If you live in Trinidad and you don't know yet. I will be launching "I Curse Death" on Sunday, May 20th at the Crowne Plaza in Port of Spain at 9:00am. After the program, I will be available to sign books.

2 My brother informed me that a short video clip of me speaking at Morehouse College in Atlanta has been included in a video created as a tribute to the legacy of our outgoing president, Dr. Walter E. Massey. They use my image right after they talk about him raising 120 million dollars during his time at the school. Look at it for about 4 minutes and then you'll see me. :-) It's called the Massey Legacy and you can find it by clicking here!

Even though you were not among those that the world has labelled as 'winners', I am sure that you know that you are a true winner because you are fulfilling God's plan for your life. Your ministry touches and inspires young christians like my self every day. So keep on doing what you are doing, because it has eternal significance and a greater reward than whatever trophy those 'winners' got.

Congratulations!!!

The seed has been sown! The rewards are only given by God and that's what's matters. You being there among the rest of the nominees is certainly an impression.

There's only one Prophet Donnell Duncan coming from the background that you came from and went through all that you did, with the experiences and revelations from God only you can commit to, therefore, a Power 3.0 has been already given to you The Father, His Son Jesus and the Holy Ghost with power to be a witness unto Him at home in Trini, the Caribbean and to the uttermost part of the earth.

Continue to Soar.

CONGRATS!!! Being nominated is in itself an achievement. I'm sure you know however that it's not about the rewards that you obtain from this world, but the rewards that you have obtained and will continue to obtain(not to mention the rewards from our Father when we complete this race) that matter the most. Thus far, you have inspired us as young Christians in this world, and will continue to make a difference inour lives each and everyday. You are yet to discover the enormity of the impact that you have made so far in persons who simply read these inspirational devotions each day. Continue doing the good work, continue listening to the voice of God and fulfilling the plan that he has for your life. Take care and be blessed!!!
