Matthew 17:27(NLT) - However, we don't want to offend them, so go down to the lake and throw in a line. Open the mouth of the first fish you catch, and you will find a large silver coin. Take it and pay the tax for both of us."

What business doesn't occasionally need emergency funding? Unexpected costs do present themselves from time to time. Yet, God knows how to provide exactly what you need immediately to avert a major crisis. In Matthew 17:24, when the tax collectors accused Jesus of not paying His taxes, Peter defended Him claiming that He does. There was just one minor issue. They didn't have the money to pay it at that moment.

That was no problem for Jesus, though. He told Peter to use his marketable skill of fishing to solve their economic challenge. In the same way, God can help you find money in a financial emergency as quickly as necessary. I've been in dire need of quick cash before and I called out to The Lord for help. He then gave me innovative ideas that today still cause me to marvel. He did it for me so He can also do it for you.

Isaiah 48:17(NKJV) - Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel: "I am the Lord your God, Who teaches you to profit, Who leads you by the way you should go.

The primary purpose of starting a business is to make a profit. Therefore, if you don't intend to make your business profitable you should start a non-profit or choose a charity to support. So for everyone who chooses to do Kingdom Business, God offers business classes. He teaches us to profit. In Luke 5:1-9, Peter and his team of professional fishermen were frustrated businessmen who had a bad night of fishing. The next morning Jesus asked to use the boat first and then gave them specific instructions to go fishing again.

They complied and the results were immediate. They caught so many fish that the net almost broke and they needed another boat to help them. Since fishing was their business it meant that they made a whole lot of money based on a word from The Lord. That's exactly what God wants to do for you too. First let Him use your business as a platform to promote His Kingdom then ask Him for ideas to make it more profitable. Do this especially after a frustrating season in your business. He'll deliver.

Mark 4:11-14(KJV) - And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables: That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them. And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables? The sower soweth the word.

Obviously, a study of seed in the Kingdom of God would not be complete without taking at least a quick look at The Parable of The Sower. Jesus described this parable as the most essential of all. If you can't get this one, you won't get any others. Also, He inferred that hidden in parables like these are the mysteries of The Kingdom of God. So what mystery is in there that applies directly to Kingdom Economics? The Word of God is seed!

Indeed, God is a businessman who provides seed money but more importantly, He provides wisdom through the seeds of His Word. If you're intent on making business decisions that are supported by God, they should be based on what He says. When you're in the dark about your situation, Psalm 119:105 says that God's Word is a lamp unto your feet and a light unto your path. Today, based on James 1:5-8 ask God for wisdom and He will give it to you. Fill your heart with His written Word so when He speaks you will recognize His voice.

Matthew 14:16-18 - But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes. He said, Bring them hither to me.

When Jesus was faced with the reality of thousands of hungry people but only five loaves and two fishes He didn't panic. What appeared to the disciples as an impossibility was really an opportunity for Jesus. In the same vein, when you are in an impossible financial situation it's an opportunity for Jesus. Take your seed money out of your hands and place them in God's hands. However, this is more than just putting your money in the offering and assuming your situation will work out.

That common church mindset doesn't always work. Indeed, there are times when God directs you to place your seed money in the offering. However, the tradition of tithes and offerings in the Old Testament came out of the harvest. Therefore, when God gives you seed, He doesn't expect you to just give Him back the same seed like the one talent man. He expects you to invest it using His wisdom and bring your increase to Him. If we all thought like that in The Church, offerings will increase exponentially.

2 Corinthians 9:10-11(NKJV) - Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness.

God is very thorough. He eliminates excuses. When the time comes for Him to judge His servants for what they have done with His goods nobody will be exempt. God has provided seed money to everyone willing to invest. According to Matthew 25:15 the main factor which affects the amount of seed money received is personal ability. Hence, if you want more seed money, what must you do? Increase your ability. He won't give you more than you can handle because He doesn't want to destroy you.

If you upgrade yourself through seminars, books, classes, study programs, mentors, simulations, etc. you indirectly put a demand on God to increase His investment in you. He pays close attention to your development and responds accordingly. If you want to advance your career, developing qualifications and experience are important. If you want to advance your business, developing ideas and connections are important. If you want to advance your ministry, be a perpetual student. God provides seed money to all sowers so give Him a reason to increase yours.

Matthew 25:28-30(NLT) - "Then he ordered, 'Take the money from this servant, and give it to the one with the ten bags of silver. To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away.

Why does it seem like the rich keep getting richer while the poor keep getting poorer? Why does the income gap continue to grow? It's a principle of The Kingdom of God. Poverty is not a financial condition. Neither is wealth. They are both mindsets. Why is it that so many poor people who suddenly get rich through gambling, professional sports or entertainment end up losing it all in a few years? They were never wealthy. They were poor people with money. In the same way, why is it that regardless of what happens around them certain people always end up rich?

Your money and your mindset will eventually match each other. If you make phenomenal investment decisions with the little money you have, God will ensure that your money increases to match your mindset. If you have money already and make poor decisions, He will also ensure that your money decreases to match your mindset. Worst yet, if you're poor financially and continue to make poor decisions you'll get even poorer. Life doesn't always seem fair but we would understand why things are the way they are if we only knew the truth.

God's Expectation Is Based On His Investment

Matthew 25:26-27(NLT) - "But the master replied, 'You wicked and lazy servant! If you knew I harvested crops I didn't plant and gathered crops I didn't cultivate, why didn't you deposit my money in the bank? At least I could have gotten some interest on it.'

The master was satisfied with 100% return on His investment from each servant. Thus, the five talent guy's increase of five talents and the two talent guy's increase of two talents were both satisfactory. If the five talent guy only increased by two talents he may have had the same return as the two talent guy but he would have been a disappointment. Yet, the master's expectation of the one talent guy was so low that He would have accepted even the smallest increase because bank interest is no more than 2-3%.

When people compare themselves with others they distort God's view of them. It causes some to live below their God-given potential and others to set their expectations too high. Your standard is not anyone else's. Your standard is the best “you” that you could ever be. God knows what He invested in you and will evaluate you based on that standard. If you were given much, much is required. If you were given little, you can only produce little at this point. That's what God expects.

Luke 16:10(NLT) - "If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won't be honest with greater responsibilities.

If you're doing nothing while waiting for your big break, make yourself comfortable. You will be waiting for a long time. The motto for my organization, The Cracked Door Foundation is; “If The Door if Cracked, The Door is Open.” Doors with small openings are as much open doors as doors with big openings. In other words, instead of waiting for your big break, make the most of your small break.

In God's Kingdom, every person is constantly being evaluated. Nobody is exempt from God's searching eyes. Today, take a look at your life and determine if you're being faithful in the little you already have. Even if what you have already is considerable by certain standards, it's little in comparison to what you will have if you remain faithful. In addition, Jesus said that if you are given much then much is required of you.

Matthew 25:16-19(NKJV) - Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. And likewise he who had received two gained two more also. But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord's money. After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them.

In the US, Silicon Valley is the place to be if you have a new technology start up and you're looking for investors. Unfortunately, many entrepreneurs have complained that they don't get money unless they fit a specific demographic. In God's Kingdom, there is no such discrimination. Still, His criterion for selective investment is unmatched. He knows the future.

Do you realize that the servant who received one talent was unprofitable? That's exactly why he only received one talent in the first place. If you complain about how much God has given you yet you're doing little to nothing with it you prove why He only gave that amount to you. Five talent people get five talents to invest. One talent people get one talent to invest. Thus the question you must ask yourself today is, “Who must I become to get what I really want to receive from God?”
