The End of Time

The End of Time

So they asked Him, saying, “Teacher, but when will these things be? And what sign will there be when these things are about to take place?” And He said: “Take heed that you not be deceived. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He,’ and, ‘The time has drawn near.’ Therefore do not go after them. But when you hear of wars and commotions, do not be terrified; for these things must come to pass first, but the end will not come immediately.” Then He said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven. - Luke 21:7-11(NKJV)

Eschatology, the study of the end times, is essentially the art and science of discerning signs. From Genesis to Revelation, the scriptures list signs of the first and second comings of Jesus, the destruction and rebuilding of the Jewish Temple, the first and “second” Resurrections, the spirit and person of the Antichrist and so much more. As we bring this study of time to a close, I feel strongly by the inspiration of the Holy Ghost that a short discourse on the end times would be beneficial.

All we need to know about what The Lord has done throughout history, what He is doing right now and what He will do until the end of time is located somewhere in the 66 books of the Bible. The challenge to all of us is to not just find what the scripture says about the end times but understand where it fits in the trajectory of all human history.
