Grasping God's Timing

Grasping God's Timing
Grasping God's Timing

Thus says the Lord, The Holy One of Israel, and his Maker: “Ask Me of things to come concerning My sons; And concerning the work of My hands, you command Me. - Isaiah 45:11(NKJV)

If you’re like me and can guarantee that you’re not from the tribe of Issachar, how can we understand the times? How can we know what to do? Should we try to identify the modern descendants of Issachar and ask them for directions? Otherwise, what are we supposed to do? Well, I have some good news to share. God’s message to us is simple, “just ask”.  Ask Him of things to come and make requests concerning the work of His hands. He doesn’t want to keep His own children in the dark because He knows the value of this information to our success in life. Before we dig into specifics let’s recap a bit.

He has made everything beautiful and appropriate in its time. He has also planted eternity [a sense of divine purpose] in the human heart [a mysterious longing which nothing under the sun can satisfy, except God]—yet man cannot find out (comprehend, grasp) what God has done (His overall plan) from the beginning to the end. - Ecclesiastes 3:11(AMP)

God’s plan is eternal. It spans from before time began through the fullness of time to eternity. Still, God planted His divine purpose in the human heart. This means that inside each of us is the need to fit into eternity. We know that our lives don’t exist in a vacuum and that’s without anybody ever telling us that. That sense of divine purpose is innate to our humanity. We want to know where we fit in God’s plan and where His plan for us fits into His eternal plan. That’s why we need to grasp God’s timing. It’s important to know the why, what and how of life but that’s not enough. It’s also important to know when. God’s timing is inextricably tied to God’s eternal plan within which we must fit God’s purpose for each of us.
