There's Power In Your Testimony

There's Power In Your Testimony

Revelation 12:11(KJV) - And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Yesterday's service at The Body Church was special. Instead of our regular worship set we stopped after the first song to share testimonies. The song was called "Rescue" by Desperation Band and since rehearsal I could feel the presence of The Lord in the room as we went through the verses. Several of us took turns to testify about how God rescued us from bad situations.

I kicked it off with an account of how God rescued me from a bad situation in my career and delivered me to a fruitful place. I recounted how God spoke to me in a dream on the night of my birthday and told me to leave where I was and He instantly opened a door to something much better. It was such a blessing from God to hear others tell of God's goodness in their own lives.

2 Timothy 1:8a(NKJV) - Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord....

There's power in your testimony. Don't be ashamed to testify about what God has done. Don't be ashamed of what you've been through. Your testimony is not about how bad your situation was but about how God good is for bringing you through it. As a result, when you think of it that way, there's nothing about God's goodness that should bring you any shame. There are people out there who need to hear about your victory in order for them to defeat the enemy in their own lives.

Sometimes, there's nothing more powerful that you can share with someone who's going through a tough season than your personal testimony. Why? Sometimes, people need to know that the stuff we read in The Bible and teach in church actually worked for you. It's easy to talk about how God did amazing things for Bible characters but it's a whole different level when you saw God do something in your own life. My father always says that a man with experience will always trump a man with an argument. Which one do you have? Experience or an argument? If you have experienced God then share what you've experienced with someone.

Jeremiah 20:9(NKJV) - Then I said, "I will not make mention of Him, Nor speak anymore in His name." But His word was in my heart like a burning fire Shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, And I could not.

Stop holding your testimony hostage on the inside of your heart. Say something! Somebody needs to hear it.
