Spiritual Discernment

Spiritual Discernment

1 Corinthians 2:13-15(NKJV) - These things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one.

It makes no sense discussing something spiritual with someone who is not. A carnal man will never understand the balance between the acquisition of righteousness by faith and the demonstration of righteousness by works. He won't perceive the importance of intimacy with the invisible Holy Spirit. He won't understand the concept of The Trinity because He can't see how The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are all One Person while they're also distinct. The Church is full of carnal people who use their minds as the standard of truth. If they can figure it out and make sense of something only then can it be true. They will drive you crazy arguing about things they cannot naturally understand.

As a result, The Apostle Paul summarized it all in 1 Corinthians 2. If the wisdom you seek is not spiritual, never expect to get anywhere in God's Kingdom. It doesn't matter how much information you gather and what knowledge you receive if you don't speak by The Spirit you have no authority on spiritual issues. Make the decision today to see everything in life through the eyes of The Spirit. He is a person. He inspired the words of The Bible. He can speak to you through others. He is speaking to you right now. Tune your ear to The Spirit so you can discern what is true and what is a lie today.
