Fight Like Jesus

Matthew 4:1-4(KJV) - Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

When Jesus was tempted and His identity was questioned by the devil how did He fight back? Why did He say what He said? Nothing Jesus said should be taken for granted. In Matthew 13:9-20, Jesus said that there are different levels of understanding of His Word. You can just see things on the surface like it's a parable or you can unlock Kingdom mysteries.

This is the fourth message in our series, "Seeing The Invisible." It's a continuation from Part Three, "Know Your Enemy". Join us as we journey into the spirit realm where important things are taking place which we cannot see.

Today's topic is "Fight Like Jesus."

Deuteronomy 8:3(KJV) - And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.

When tempted to place His physical desire for food above His spiritual desire for God's Word, Jesus responded to the enemy with Deuteronomy 8:3. Do you know that Jesus quoted more scripture during His time on earth than we probably give Him credit for? Many of His statements came directly out of The Old Testament. Why did He do that? For one, because it works. Another reason I believe is that He wanted to teach us how to live our lives and defeat the enemy daily.

Fight Like Jesus

John 17:17(KJV) - Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

When the enemy tells you lies and messes with your mind you can't fight him with your opinion or cliche's you heard somewhere. You need to respond with The Word of God. If you're in a mental battle against lies your only defense is the truth.

Lie -You have no right to claim healing for a sickness that has attacked your body.

Truth

1 Peter 2:24(KJV) - Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Psalm 103:1-5(KJV) - Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.

Lie - God is still mad and refuses to forgive you for a horrible sin even though you genuinely repented.

Truth

1 John 1:9(KJV) - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Lie - It's God's Will for you to be poor and struggle financially for the rest of your life.

Truth

Galatians 3:29(KJV) - And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Deuteronomy 8:18(KJV) - But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

We'll continue from here tomorrow. If you are going through a tough time and you don't have a revelation of what God says concerning your situation, make it your business to find out. Fight like Jesus!
