Newsflash: You Reap What You Sow!

You Reap What You Sow!

Galatians 6:7-9 - Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

The Seed Principle is the basis of God’s Kingdom. Not only that; it also extends beyond Christianity and is one of the fundamental principles of life accepted throughout the world. It appears that human beings have some version of this notion in mind regardless of their backgrounds. In many cultures, this understanding has been passed down through generations. It may be described differently but the foundational theory is the same. Here are a few common expressions of the Seed Principle;

1. What goes around comes around.
2. The Law of Karma
3. Do unto others as you would like them to do unto you.
4. The Law of Cause and Effect
5. It all comes out in the wash.
6. You got a taste of your own medicine.
7. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

Matthew 6:33 - But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

The fruit of a tree is the harvest of that tree. However, it can also contain the seed of the tree. Hence, every harvest contains the seed for an even bigger harvest. That’s the Kingdom of God! Seek first the way God brings expansion and His righteousness and you will receive all the things you desire. Your present is the seed for your future. Therefore, whatever you do in your current situation determines whether or not there will be any change. You don’t need to seek things. The harvest of your decisions contains more than enough things. In this system, you start right where you are and build a solid foundation for your future, one decision at a time.

Luke 16:10-12 - He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own?

One practical application of this approach to the Seed Principle is education. Diligence in primary school is the seed for secondary school. Diligence in secondary school is the seed for college. Diligence in college is the seed for graduate school or your first professional position. Your diligence in your entry-level position is the seed for your promotion. Do you want a better job? Diligently serve God with excellence and faithfulness in your current position. Eventually, even if you have the desire to start your own company, a track record of diligence sets the tone for your success.

Joshua 1:8 - This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

The seed of the Word of God is the most effective seed available. By sowing the Word of God into your life you can change circumstances that your actions caused to take place. In other words, the spiritual potency of the Word of God can override natural laws of sowing and reaping. You can’t change the past but you can use the Word of God to change the outcome of your past decisions. God will forgive you of anything you have done wrong but He can also release you from the consequences you deserve for those actions.

It is your responsibility to make full use of what the scriptures have to offer. Speaking the Word of God aloud into the atmosphere from a heart full of faith is not a useless exercise because that’s exactly how God created the earth. It’s also the method Jesus used to perform many miracles that astonished those around Him. Meditating in the Word of God conditions your mind to think like Him. His ways may be past finding out according to Romans 11:33, but feeding yourself with His Word daily takes you one step closer.

Psalm 75:6-7; “For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.”
