Unleashing The Power Of God In Your Life

Unleashing The Power Of God In Your Life

What is The Power Of God?

Is it in a title?

"Ladies and gentlemen, stand on your feet and welcome Senior Bishop Right Reverend Apostle Dr. Such and Such. Make some noise for this powerful Mand Of God!!!"

Is it being loud?

Is it something physical?

"Come on up, let me lay hands on you so you can feel this power! (hands are then laid on your head and you are pushed to the ground) That's right, you see the power? Who wants this power, join the line, step right up." (Note: If you get up the same way you were when you hit the ground, was that power?)

Is it being emotional?

"That's it. I feel the power. (you then take off running around the church) This power makes me wanna jump. It makes me wanna dance. It makes me wanna run. (Note: If you are the same way after you finished running as you were before you started, was that power?)"

Welcome to our newest blog series at The Cracked Door. We've been waiting on The Lord for direction since we ended our 11 part series on "The Mercy Of God" last Monday. Now The Lord has spoken and we're about to dive into the most exciting teaching we have ever done on this site. Read at your own risk. 🙂

1 Corinthians 2:4-5(KJV) - And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

In 1 Corinthians 2 The Apostle Paul separated himself from many preachers who were around during his time. He said that the hallmark of his preaching was not in his eloquence or human wisdom but in two factors: The Spirit and Power. The Spirit refers to The Anointing on his life. Last year, we spent several months studying The Anointing so if you would like to know more you can click here.

However, what about The Power he spoke of that was evident in his preaching? He said to the Corinthian Church that if they took hold of his teaching they would have access to the power of God upon which their faith could stand. Pay attention to that. He said that their faith could stand in The Power of God. How can someone's faith stand in The Power of God? What's that all about? The Power of God is so much more than we can ever imagine. It's exciting. It's magnificent. It's amazing. It's mysterious. If we think we have God's power understood, we don't.

Let's start by defining the word "power" as it's used in The New Testament of The Bible.

1) Dynamis

Acts 1:8(KJV) - But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

In this context, the word "power" means "inherent ability, power residing in a thing by virtue of its nature, or which a person or thing exerts and puts forth, power for performing miracles."

2) Dynatos

James 3:2(KJV) - For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same [is] a perfect man, [and] able also to bridle the whole body.

In this context, the word "able" means the same thing as "having the power to" and it means to be, "strong in soul, to bear calamities and trials with fortitude and patience as well as strong in Christian virtue."

3) Exousia

Luke 10:19(KJV) - Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

In this context, The Bible is referring to "the power of authority (influence) and of right (privilege), the power of rule or government (the power of him whose will and commands must be submitted to by others and obeyed)."

4) Ischys

2 Peter 2:11(KJV) - Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord.

In this context, The Bible is referring to "ability, force, strength and might".

5) Kratos

Jude 1:25(KJV) - To the only wise God our Saviour, [be] glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

In this context, the word power means, "dominion".

6) Megaleiotēs

Luke 9:43(KJV) - And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God. But while they wondered every one at all things which Jesus did, he said unto his disciples,

In this context the word "power" means "greatness, magnificence, of the majesty of God, of the visible splendour of the divine majesty as it appeared in the transfiguration of Christ."

7) Energēs

Hebrews 4:12(KJV) - For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

In this context, the word "powerful" means "active or effectual".
