Live Holy: Let your lifestyle testify of Jesus (Part Three)

Live Holy: Let your lifestyle testify of Jesus (Part Three)

Written By: Dr. Angel

Welcome to Part 17 of our current blog series; "Evangelism". Click here for Part 16, "How Do We Evangelize? - Live Holy: Let your lifestyle testify of Jesus (Part Two).".

I hear the Lord saying to us, “Enough, already!!! How long will you waver between two opinions? If God is God, serve God if this is not pleasing to you, serve another. For those who choose Me, please stand with holy hands lifted. Your families are dying, your marriages are dying, your friends are dying, and your nation is dying. Live holy so that your lifestyle testifies of Jesus Christ. It’s time to evangelize and save the lost!” - Word From The Lord

The second practical key of evangelism is to Live Holy: Let your lifestyle testify of Jesus. Today is a continuation from yesterday.

4.) God requires us to live holy. As Christians we need to get serious about living lives of holiness before God. His presence will only dwell in clean vessels. Who are we that God would choose to place His Holy Spirit in us? Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? Let’s do inventory and make sure that our temples are cleansed and kept holy for the presence of God.

Psalm 8:4 (NASB) – “What is man that You take thought of him, And the son of man that You care for him?”

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NKJV) – “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

1 Kings 18:21 (NIV) – “Elijah went before the people and said, "How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him." But the people said nothing.”

1 Timothy 2:8 (NLT) “I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling;”

Matthew 7:21-23 (NAS) “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.”

5.) The Holy Spirit helps us to live holy. Living lives of purity in today’s society is seen as unpopular and virtually impossible in the flesh. However, the HOLY SPIRIT Himself is living inside of us! The Holy Spirit will help us to live holy, to the degree that we chose to obey His promptings in our lifestyle decisions. We have a free will so it’s up to us to personally listen to the Spirit’s voice. We must choose His ways moment by moment.

1 Corinthians 10:13 (NLT) – “The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.”

Joshua 24:14 (NASB) – "If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."

Are you ready to live holy? Do not let your past sins or short comings stop you from evangelizing. The good news is God is merciful! Jesus paid the price for our sins with His powerful blood. He promises to forgive us and restore His children to purity. Repent, be cleansed, receive His forgiveness and get going with the Father’s business!

Isaiah 1:18 (NASB) - "Come now, and let us reason together," Says the LORD, "Though your sins are as scarlet, They will be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They will be like wool.

1 John 1:9 (NASB) – “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Today, Live Holy: Let your lifestyle testify of Jesus! Next, we will discuss the third practical key to evangelizing; Be concise: Know the Gospel & keep it simple

Live Holy: Let your lifestyle testify of Jesus (Part Two)

Live Holy: Let your lifestyle testify of Jesus (Part Two)

Written By: Dr. Angel

Welcome to Part 16 of our current blog series; "Evangelism". Click here for Part 15, "How Do We Evangelize? - Live Holy: Let your lifestyle testify of Jesus.".

3.) Christians must model holiness to others. The scripture reminds us not only to tell others about living holy, but we are to set examples for others in our speech, love, faith and purity. What does this look like? How is this even possible? With the Holy Spirit's help, of course!

1 Timothy 4:12 (NIV) – “Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe.”

No matter your age, gender, ethnicity or geographic location, as Christians we are called to live holy. The scriptures instruct us to flee from sexual immorality. This includes renouncing our indulgences in viewing lude images, pornography and masturbation. The Word of God reminds us that there should not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or any kind of impurity, or greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.

Additionally, we should avoid obscene stories, foolish talk, and coarse jokes as they are unfitting for the children of God. This may mean making changes to the set of friends or acquaintances we allow to influence us.

Ephesians 5:3-4 (NLT) – “Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God’s people. Obscene stories, foolish talk, and coarse jokes—these are not for you. Instead, let there be thankfulness to God.”

1 Corinthians 15:33 (NASB) – “Do not be deceived: "Bad company corrupts good morals."

Since we become what we behold, the more we spend time seeking the face of our loving God, the more we become like Him. As a result, we will model His holiness to others more and more. This transformation process requires us to abide in Christ and seek His face continually. Our love for Him should compel us to long to spend time in His presence. God longs to spend “face time” with us even more than we long for Him. If we draw near to Him, He promises to draw near to us and we will be changed more into His glorious image. He loves us so much and it is in His presence alone are we truly changed.

2 Corinthians 3:18 (NLT) – “So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.”

John 15:7 (NLT) – “But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!”

1 Chronicles 16:11 (NLT) – “Search for the Lord and for His strength; continually seek Him.”

James 4:8 (NKJV) – “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded”

Sadly, we live in a generation that loves to be entertained and will invest a great deal of time, money, and energy to do so. Reality television, violent video games, pornography, horror movies, and oversexualized commercials are major sources of the world’s entertainment. Though the imageries projected by these forms of entertainment is intangible, the lusts that are conceived in our souls give birth to tangible sin and death.

Acts 2:40 (MSG) – “He went on in this vein for a long time, urging them over and over, “Get out while you can; get out of this sick and stupid culture!”

1 Corinthians 1:18 (NKJV) – “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”

James 1:13-15 (NLT) – “And remember, when you are being tempted, do not say, “God is tempting me.” God is never tempted to do wrong, and he never tempts anyone else. Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.”

Today, let's examine our private lifestyles in view of God's Word. The scripture says that we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world. We are also called to evangelize to a dying world so they too might know the love of Christ. There is no plan B. Therefore, we can not afford to lose our saltiness or allow our light to grow deem. If we do not live holy, we will not effectively reach others for Christ. Period.

Matthew 5:13-16 (NIV) - "You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."

Perhaps you have not struggled with holy living; praise God! Your testimony is how God has kept you and continues to keep you each day. However, if by chance you have been privately struggling, pray and ask the Holy Spirit to help you. Jesus loves you so much and wants you to walk in total victory and freedom. He has made a way for you to be free and cleansed. First, acknowledge your struggle, ask the Lord to forgive you and cleanse you from your sins. Then, turn away from this area of sin and ask the Holy Spirit to help you walk in holiness each day. Also, if you need an accountability partner speak to your Pastor, leaders, or someone you can trust that will counsel you according to the Word of God. You do not have to fight your struggle alone!

1John 1:9 (ESV) -"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Proverbs 15:22 (ESV)- "Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed."

Be encouraged! The blood of Jesus is more powerful than anything you may be struggling with. There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, only forgiveness. Through Him you are an overcomer! Praise God for His deliverance and testify to others about the victory you have through Christ!

Romans 8:1-4 (NASB) - "Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit."

Revelation 12:11 (KJV) -"And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death."

Tomorrow, we will continue this discussion on the practical keys to evangelism; "Live Holy: Let your lifestyle testify of Jesus."

Why Do We Evangelize? - Our Love For Jesus

Why Do We Evangelize? - Our Love For Jesus

Written By: Dr. Angel

Welcome to Part 3 of our current blog series; "Evangelism". Click here for Part 2, "Why Do We Evangelize? - It's A Commandment".

2 Timothy 2:4(NIV) - “No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer.”

John 14:5(NLT) - "If you love me, obey my commandments.”

This brings us to the second reason why we evangelize. We evangelize because we love Jesus and want to tell others about Him. When you love someone you find great pleasure in telling others about the impact they have had on your life.

Since we truly love Jesus, we are not able to contain the great news of what He has done in our lives. Our response to the great love He has shown us is to tell others about Him. We each have a testimony of what the Lord has saved us from, kept us from, or both! Our testimonies are powerful! We have been forgiven for innumerable sins and transgressions. This alone should compel us to testify of the great love of the Lord!

Luke 7:47(NLT) - “I tell you, her sins—and they are many—have been forgiven, so she has shown me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love.”

Revelation 12:11(KJV) - “And they overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony.”

We can observe a love for Jesus that resulted in evangelism through the lives of a Samaritan woman and the Apostle Paul.

First, the Samaritan woman spent one moment with Jesus at a well. Her encounter with Jesus was so impactful that she immediately began to evangelize to an entire community about her experience!

John 4:39-42(NIV) - “Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.” So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two days. And because of his words many more became believers. They said to the woman, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have.”

Second, the Apostle Paul had an encounter with Jesus Christ on the road to Damascus. As a result of meeting Jesus, he was greatly impacted. His transformation resulted in Him denouncing all ties to his former life and dedicating the rest of His days to worldwide evangelism.

Philippians 3:3-11(NLT) -“For we who worship by the Spirit of God are the ones who are truly circumcised. We rely on what Christ Jesus has done for us. We put no confidence in human effort, though I could have confidence in my own effort if anyone could. Indeed, if others have reason for confidence in their own efforts, I have even more! I was circumcised when I was eight days old. I am a pure-blooded citizen of Israel and a member of the tribe of Benjamin—a real Hebrew if there ever was one! I was a member of the Pharisees, who demand the strictest obedience to the Jewish law. I was so zealous that I harshly persecuted the church. And as for righteousness, I obeyed the law without fault. I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith. I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death, so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead!”

Psalm 103:1-5(KJV) - Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.

What’s your testimony? Let’s take a moment and reflect on where you were when Jesus came to set you free. Were you like the Samaritan woman with a history of failed relationships, rejection and pain? Were you like the Apostle Paul with a history of great achievements but self-righteous and murderous? You did not choose Him, He chose you and loved you first. Now, consider where you are now in your life. REJOICE in His promises of a great future and a hope in Him!

1 John 4:19(KJV) – “We love Him because He first loved us.

Isaiah 1:18(NASB) -“Come now, and let us reason together," Says the LORD, "Though your sins are as scarlet, They will be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They will be like wool.”

Jeremiah 29:11(NLT)- “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”

What manner of love is this? All of our past sins have been washed away (Isa. 1:18) and our latter end WILL be greater than our former (Haggai 2:9). The unfathomable love that Jesus has lavished on us should compel us to tell the world all about Him and all He has done in our lives!
